National Daiquiri Day happens each year on July 19th and we did not let this day go by unnoticed. In 1898 Jennings Cox created the first daiquiri following his mining expedition in Daiquiri, Cuba. In 1909 the daiquiri recipe debuted in America in the Army & Navy Club in Washington, D.C. courtesy of Rear Admiral Lucius Johnson. Legend also tells the tale that Ernest Heminway dreamed up his own version of the cocktail in the 1940s in Havana, Cuba that brought the frozen concoction to fruition. Famously one of favorite drinks of John F. Kennedy, it is also one of the oldest, sweetest and most popular drinks ever served. In 2021 it was an enormous hit amongst staff and residents at the Neosho Medicalodge . We chose strawberry as our daiquiri of choice this year, what is your favorite? ...

It's Corn Hole Tuesday in Eudora! Everyone loves this game! So how did this game get it's name? Legend has it that a fourteenth-century cabinet maker by the name of Mr. Matthias Kuepermann created the game after watching children toss rocks into a nearby groundhog’s hole. Kuepermann was said to have been so concerned for the safety of the children that he utilized his carpentry skills and designed a safer game for them to play.
But where does the “corn” come into play? Well, during this time, corn was utilized more often as a weight rather than a food because of its abundance. Kuepermann determined a bag of corn was much safer to throw than a stone. The rest, as they say, is history.
